Association Of Provosts Of Colleges Of Medicine In Nigeria was incorporated to promote advancement of medical education, training and research with the ultimate objective of providing doctors, dentists and allied medical professionals of high quality and in such numbers as are required to meet the health care delivery needs of Nigeria and even the international community.

Promoting Medical Education

The Aim of the Association

The aim of the Association is to serve as a forum for the initiation, dissemination and promotion of progressive ideas in the field of medical and dental education, training, research, and service delivery in Nigeria and other parts of the world. The objectives are:

To monitor and advice on the growth and development of Colleges/Faculties of Medicine in Nigeria and assist Ministries, National Universities Commission, University Teaching Hospitals, and other bodies charged with the responsibility of executing the national policy on medical and dental education.
To conduct programmes and projects, review curricula, organize workshops, meetings, seminars, and conferences in fulfilment of the highest standards in medical and allied medical education.
To provide an organized, unified, and informed forum for the determination of policies on medical and dental education.
To promote, coordinate and monitor quality assurance in medical and dental education and training in Nigeria.
To stimulate, encourage and facilitate collaborative effort and mutual assistance among Colleges of Medicine in Nigeria.
To establish and maintain liaison with appropriate governmental and non-governmental agencies that may further the development, support, and improvement of medical and dental education in Nigeria.
To promote international peer collaboration in seeking to address challenges in medical and allied medical education, and to cooperate with organizations in and outside Nigeria having similar aims and objectives on medical education and promotion of health care delivery.
To strive to establish an information newsletter and learned journal for the Association.

Membership

The membership of the Association shall consist of Provosts of Colleges of Medicine in Nigerian Universities. The payment of membership dues shall be on institutional basis and a member shall cease to participate in the meetings and activities of the Association on the expiration of his or her tenure as a Provost of the institution's medical college. In such an instance the new Provost shall automatically be admitted as member of APCOM.
